In this tutorial I'll show you how to decoupage an Irish Seashell. This is a fun and easy craft anyone can do. They make beautiful ornamental displays for coastal and beach house decor. ITEM'S YOU'LL NEED: (Large Irish Seashell) 🤍 (DecoArt Decoupage Sealer) 🤍 (Decorative Napkins) You can choose any style or look you want, I always purchase from Amazon, they have the most amazing choices and prices. TIP* Purchase them in the country where you reside. It takes weeks to arrive overseas. 2 soft paint brushes Plastic wrap (Saran or dollar store brand) Baking sheet (cover with tin foil) Oven set to 175°, you can also use your toaster oven. Place your shells when ready in the middle of your oven to prevent burning on one side. This easy to make clam shell dish will add a perfect touch to your beach home decor. Make them yourself or order them from my store. They look cute and would make a perfect Christmas present or Secret Santa gift, unique Mother's day gift, Birthday or Valentine's day gift. Need a ring dish for your beach wedding? A clam shell like this would be just perfect for that! HOW TO MAKE IT INSTRUCTIONS: All you need is a sea shell, paper napkins, paint, glue and paintbrushes. You can use a clam shells or an oyster shells. If you don't live by the beach you can purchase shells from amazon or even on Etsy. - First paint the inside of the shell white. Wait for the paint to dry before you proceed with the next step. - You will need a decorative paper napkin. Any design you like will do. Make sure to only use the top ply of the napkin. - Glue the napkin on with Mod Podge but be carful because the napkin can easily tear. Apply the 2nd coat of the Mod Podge on the top over the napkin and wait for it to dry. - Remove the excess napkin and sand the edges. - Paint the edges and the back of the shell. It amazes me what you can craft with Mod Podge, a few napkins and a canvas of your choosing. This DIY gift idea has been done before and there are several videos on YouTube. However, this is my creative version. Step 1: Purchase Oyster Shells 00:05 I found mine easily on Amazon.com. They came from the US, which I love! Step 2: Wash Oyster Shells 00:16 You want to remove any debris, sand or shell parts from your oysters. Step 3: Paint two coats of white paint to the inside of your shells. 00:38 Made in the USA, Ceramcoat Oyster White, paint. Two coats is optimal. Step 4: Choose napkin of choice. Bring to 1-ply. Trim to size. Coat shell with Mod Podge. Place napkin and tap. Cover with Mod Podge. 00:59 Step 5: Gild with gold foil. 01:17 Lightly edge oyster shells with gold foil paint. Use artistic liberties on how much or little you use. The end result is a feminine, beautiful ring dish, trinket tray, paper clip holder, catch all or coffee table accent. Decorating Seashells in gold, copper and silver In this video we will show you how to create a beautiful sparkling and shimmering effect on seashells, with metal leaf in gold, copper or silver. Instructions: 1: clean the shells 2: apply pearlescent paint on the parts where you will not apply metal leaf 3: apply gilding size with a brush or sponge 4: let size dry fora bout half an hour 5: apply metal leaf 6: remove excess leaf with a brush 7: polish with a cloth 8: finish with varnish, shellac or wax 9: style and enjoy your lovely shells!
